Hola!

We are Nick & Adri Ducassi, a bilingual creative team with over a decade of experience in films, commercials, social media, and branded content.

OUR DEAL

We are a comedy directing duo with extensive experience in the sketch comedy, documentary/journalism, and the Latin-market spaces. We’ve honed our comedic voices working together for nearly a decade, in which we directed/showran the Netflix digital comedy series “Go Off” and ran the online satire outlets The Plantain (“The Onion” but for Miami) and The Avocado (for Los Angeles). Together, our work has garnered over 100 million views.

Currently, Nick works as a creative director and video producer for L.A. Times Entertainment and Adri works extensively as a comedy writer/director on digital campaigns for Gutsy Media and Frameshift. Previous clients and campaigns include Netflix, HBO, The Los Angeles Times, Garmin, and more.

GO OFF w/ JESS & JULISSA

In 2021, Netflix, its Con Todo vertical, and the production company The Light tapped The Ducassis to create Go Off With Jess & Julissa, a new digital comedy show starring Jess Marie Garcia (On My Block) and Julissa Calderon (Gentefied). From writing, directing, producing, and editing hilarious sketches to promote Netflix content, we catapulted seasons one and two of Go Off to millions of views across Netflix and Con Todo’s digital and social channels. Shot entirely on green screen, the show combines thousands of original and pre-existing content assets from the vast Netflix content library to deliver lightning-fast, sharp comedy and satire that roasts and promotes Netflix’s films and series with dazzling visuals.

THE PLANTAIN & THE AVOCADO

The Plantain & The Avocado are satire outlets that lampoon Miami and L.A. respectively through articles and sketches. Beyond the roast, our larger mission is to provide our audience with actual news about what’s going on in our cities through a satirical perspective.

NARRATIVE FILMS

We come from an indie film background and have had the pleasure of wearing every hat in the game. From directing to writing to acting, filming and editing (and most times prop wrangling) we treat narrative filmmaking as an all-hands-on-deck situation, jumping into any and all roles to help the story come alive.

 MORE FROM NICK

While Nick was born and bred in the Miami sun, he thought it was a good idea to freeze to death in the Pittsburgh tundra, where he studied drama at Carnegie Mellon University. He’s Latinx (not Latin) and dreams of one day figuring out what cum laude means.

After graduating, he returned to Miami to thaw/serve as Lead Producer for The Borscht Film Festival, where he helped produce events, short films and digital content, several of which went on to play at Sundance, Tribeca, and SXSW. As the COO and Executive Producer of Fruitbasket Media (The Avocado and The Plantain), he manages all production, operations, and strategy across digital platforms in addition to directing, writing, and producing its digital content, including their upcoming satirical news series Platano Gigante (Winter 2021).

Previously, he worked in consumer marketing at HBO, where he worked on IP/shows including Game of Thrones, Veep, and Silicon Valley. As a creative producer and manager, he worked collaboratively both internally and with HBO partners (Live Nation, Ommegang, Funko), to help propel the marketing of large-scale projects, from concept development to release, including the 24-city Game of Thrones Live Concert tour and HBO’s presence at SXSW & Comic-Con.

All the while, he’s worked as a freelance creative producer, writer, and director for films, commercials, digital content, and more, for clients including Garmin, Google, Adidas, Anheuser-Busch, Brooklyn Salsa Company, and Carnegie Mellon.
